Allison knows her career as an entertainment journalist is on the fast track when she’s promoted to on-camera reporter. Ben is an overgrown child with no plans of settling down. Both their plans are derailed when a chance meeting and one night of spur-of-the-moment sex turns into the ultimate deal breaker – parenthood.

During the next nine months, they try to become a loving couple, prepare for parenthood and absorb the sometimes off-the-wall parenting advice given by Allison’s sister Debbie (Leslie Mann) and hen-pecked brother-in-law Pete (Paul Rudd). They soon learn that they are not the soul mates they’d like to me.
