Meet The 40-Year-Old Virgin Director Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up Cast and Crew

Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up Character – Allison Scott)

Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl leads the Knocked Up cast as up-and-coming entertainment journalist Allison Scott.

This Knocked Up cast member’s career has been on the fast track with increasing success in film and television.

Heigl began her entertainment career as a child model, signing with Wilhelmina modeling agency at the age of nine. Commercials and modeling assignments for Cheerios, Lord and Taylor, Sears and Seventeen soon followed.

Heigl’s first big television success came for her portrayal of a teenaged alien in UPN’s hit series Roswell. The Knocked Up actress has a string of additional television credits, including The Tempest, The Twilight Zone, Love Comes Softly, Evil Never Dies, Wuthering Heights, Love’s Enduring Promise and Romy and Michele: In the Beginning. She also starred in the NBC mini-series Critical Assembly, a made for TV movie about 9-11.

Heigl made her big screen debut in That Night. This was followed by a string of movies including King of the Hill, My Father the Hero, Under Siege 2: Dark Territory and Bride of Chucky.

She also has several independent film credits to her name including 100 Girls and Valentine. She also starred in the Descendent a thriller based on Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher.”

Since her teens, the Golden Globe nominated actress has championed organ donation. She dedicated her celebrity to educating others about the benefits of organ donation after the death of her brother. The Coalition on Donation honored Heigl for her efforts with the Dr. James S. Wolf Courage Award.

Seth Rogen (Knocked Up Character – Ben Stone)

Knocked Up character Ben Stone is portrayed by The 40-Year-Old Virgin alum Seth Rogen. The Canada native started his career as a child commercial actor. By his teens, Rogen was hitting the comedy circuits hard.

After winning an amateur comedy contest in Vancouver, Rogen made his way to the Los Angeles comedy clubs. His first big role came as sarcastic geek Ken Miller in the NBC series Freaks and Geeks. The series introduced Rogen to series co-creator and Knocked Up movie director Judd Apatow.

When the series was cancelled, Apatow cast Rogen in the Fox series Undeclared. Following this short-lived series, Rogen joined the cast of Drew Barrymore’s teen drama, Donnie Darko, in a supporting role.

As a result of his outstanding writing on an episode of Freaks and Geeks, word buzzed around Hollywood about Rogen’s quick-witted and superb comedy writing skills. He was soon snatched up by HBO to write for the Da Ali G Show starring British comedian Sacha Baron Cohen.

Rogen returned to acting in 2004 to portray and overly enthused cameraman in Apatow’s Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. This was followed by the 2005 mega-hit The 40 Year Old Virgin. In this Apatow film, Rogen plays Cal who attempts to find a sexual partner for the main character.

The Knocked Up star made supporting appearances in other television series and movies, including Dawson’s Creek, You Me and Dupree, Early Bird and American Dad.

Paul Rudd (Knocked Up Character – Pete)

The 40-Year-Old Virgin alum Paul Rudd gives not-so-helpful parenting advice as Allison’s brother-in-law Pete in Judd Apatow’s Knocked Up.

Rudd is a trained actor who studied drama at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and Oxford’s British Drama Academy.

Rudd got his start in the hit NBC series Sisters. After the series ended, he went on to star in Wild Oats. He made his big screen debut in Clueless. His next film was Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.

After the completing the popular horror flick, the Knocked Up movie star abandoned Hollywood for New York and appeared in Alfred Uhry’s Broadway production, The Last Night of Ballyhoo.

Rudd has appeared on screen with some of Hollywood’s brightest female stars. He co-starred with Reese Witherspoon in Overnight Delivery and Courtney Love in 200 Cigarettes, was transformed from geek to chic by Rachel Weisz in The Shape of Things, appeared with Charlize Theron in The Cider House Rules and was Jennifer Aniston’s crush in The Object of My Affection.

Rudd’s other film credits include The Great Gatsby, The 40 Year Old Virgin, P.S., The Baxter, Wet Hot American Summer, House Hunting and Wake Up Ron Burgundy.

He appeared in several episodes of the long running NBC sitcom Friends as Phoebe’s boyfriend Mike Hogan. Other TV appearances include Reno 911 and Celebrity Poker Showdown.

Judd Apatow (Knocked Up Writer and Director)

The 40-Year-Old Virgin director Judd Apatow takes the helm as writer and director of the new Universal Pictures comedy Knocked Up.

Apatow began his career as a stand up comic in Long Island. In 1988, he joined the cast of Comic Strip Live. He crossed over from stand-up to writing in the early nineties, working with Tom and Roseanne Arnold on The Naked Truth, Class Clowns and the HBO special Roseanne Arnold. He also wrote for the 1994 Grammy’s and for a CBS special honoring Clint Eastwood.

The mid-nineties opened doors for Apatow to write for several critically acclaimed shows including the short-lived The Ben Stiller Show, The Critic and The Larry Sanders Show. Apatow won several Cable Ace awards for writing the show. He also won an Emmy for The Ben Stiller Show.

The Knocked Up director’s work reached the big screen in Crossing the Bridge. He followed that as co-writer for Heavyweights. Apatow also wrote Celtic Pride, his first solo screenwriting project.

In 1999, Apatow created the much talked about Freaks and Geeks. The well celebrated but short-lived series was followed by another Apatow work, Undeclared.

Apatow expanded his role as writer producer for Anchorman, which starred Will Ferrell. He followed the success of Anchorman with the box office smash The 40 Year Old Virgin, the Knocked Up writer’s most acclaimed work to date.

Superbad, Drillbit Taylor and The Pineapple Express are Apatow’s next movies set for release.

Shauna Robertson (Knocked Up Producer)

Shauna Robertson reunites with The 40-Year-Old Virgin director Judd Apatow to produce Knocked Up. Robertson has a string of credits to her name. She made her acting debut in 1996 in the film High School High. But, her more notable film accomplishments have occurred behind the scenes.

She has climbed from production assistant for films like Blankman and Indian Summer to producer on the Knocked Up movie. Her other credits as a producer include Mystery, Alaska, Meet the Parents and Elf.

The Knocked Up movie is among a string of work she has produced under the direction of Apatow. She produced the box office hit The 40 Year Old Virgin and Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. She also produced Apatow’s upcoming movies Superbad and The Pineapple Express.

Clayton Townsend (Knocked Up Producer)

Knocked Up producer Clayton Townsend reunites with The 40-Year-Old Virgin Director Judd Apatow, bringing and wealth of production experience spanning two decades to the Knocked Up movie crew.

The Knocked Up movie producer began his film career as a location manager for such hits as The Chorus Line, Angel Heart and 9 ½ Weeks. He transitioned to production management on successful films like Three Men and A Baby, Talk Radio, Born on the Fourth of July and Jacob’s Ladder. He co-produced J.F.K. and Heaven and Earth.

From the mid-nineties onward, Townsend produced a number of hits including, Nixon, The Blackout, Any Given Sunday, Heartbreakers, Bad Company, U-Turn and The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift. Townsend and Apatow worked together on the hit big screen comedy The 40 Year Old Virgin.
